Renting a chalet in Chantemerle (Serre Chevalier 1350): the historic heart of the valley

Set in the commune of Saint-Chaffrey at 1,350 metres above sea level, Chantemerle is the historic birthplace of skiing in Serre Chevalier Valley, where the famous cable car first opened in 1941. Today it forms the central hub of the 250 km ski area linking Briançon (1200 m), Villeneuve (1400 m) and Le Monêtier-les-Bains (1500 m).

The Luc Alphand snow front, Ratier gondola and village shops

Chantemerle centres around the Place du Téléphérique and the snow front at the foot of the legendary Luc Alphand run. From here, the Ratier gondola and Combes chairlift whisk skiers up to the Ratier plateau (1,900 m) and connects seamlessly with Briançon, Villeneuve and Le Monêtier.

Around Place du Téléphérique and Allée des Boutiques, guests find the French Ski School (ESF Chantemerle), lift pass offices, ski hire shops, bakeries, alpine cheese shops, supermarkets, pharmacies and mountain restaurants.

The quiet Les Peyrons hamlet and Chalet Panoramique’s location

Chalet Panoramique stands at 17 Rue du Chardon Bleu in the residential Les Peyrons hamlet, on the sunny slope overlooking Chantemerle. This location combines total peace and 180° mountain views with effortless slope access via the shuttle stop just 50 metres away.

During the winter season, shuttles run every 15 minutes and drop skiers right at the Chantemerle lifts, allowing you to leave your car in the chalet’s closed garage all week.

Chantemerle in summer: alpine hikes, Col du Granon and Colombiers park

From June onwards, Saint-Chaffrey and Chantemerle bask in the Southern Alps sunshine (over 300 sunny days a year). The village marks the start of the legendary Col du Granon climb (2,413 m), while the Ratier gondola lifts hikers and mountain bikers up to high-altitude trails and lakes facing the Écrins massif. Along the Guisane river, the shaded Colombiers park offers tennis courts, playgrounds and scenic riverside paths towards Briançon and La Salle-les-Alpes.
